Yaqan Nukiy flag raised at Prince Charles Secondary

Students, members of the Lower Kootenay Band and Creston community members witnessed the raising of the Yaqan Nukiy flag at Prince Charles Secondary on June 4, 2019.

A formal ceremony was held in the morning followed by a special thanks and ceremonial blanket presentation from Chief Jason Louie to Lower Kootenay Band member and PCSS teacher Ki Louie who spearheaded the initiative.

Councilor Robert Louie, who was the first LKB member to graduate from PCSS in 1972, raised the Flag.

Superintendent for School district 8 Christine Perkins was also in attendance and said it was a great celebration and that [SD#8] is proud of Ki Louie’s leadership.
