A second cougar sighting in as many days has been reported in Nelson city limits.
This time police received a report from the Rosemont area Wednesday night around 8pm. A cougar was also spotted on 7th Street, Fairview around 9 pm Tuesday night. It’s not known if it’s the same wild cat.
Police are again reminding the public not to run away if they encounter a cougar that stands its ground. You should raise your voice, speak firmly , raise your arms to look bigger and clap your hands. You can throw something at it but do not bend down or turn your back. This may trigger a pounce response.
