Muddy Ruff Race this weekend in Creston

Creston is hosting a 5k  obstacle course for dogs and their owners this Sunday.

The The ReBARKable Canine Adventures RUFF Race is organized by longtime paramedic and ground search and rescue (GSAR)  Volunteer Krista McEwen.

She says all of the proceeds from the $30 registration is to support the BC Search Dog Association.

“I’m on the board of directors and I’ve been with them since they started. We’re covered under the RCMP umbrella. Once the person gets lost RCMP gets contacted and then they contact us. We try to stay local because its a province-wide organization so we have people all over the province.”

No dog? No problem. McEwen says loaner dogs available as well including Koda who is currently at PAWS in Creston. The event is for all ages as long as there’s parental supervision, and it’s open to the public.

“I’ve got some people coming down with their kids. Maybe next year, if it goes well, we can have an easy 5k and a more advanced 10k.”

Registration is at 9:00 am on Sunday . The Ruff Race begins at 9:30 am and prizes will be awarded at ruffly 11:00 am.
