Creston Valley Thunder Cats Golf Tournament August 24

The Creston Valley Thunder Cats Golf Tournament will not only help the team, but also support Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

A quarter of the proceeds will go towards the organization which helps Canadians suffering from the neuromuscular disorder. Tournament Chair Kevin Smith says the event has grown  from roughly 36 the first year to almost 100 last year.

“We alternate the charities,” Says Smith. “There’s Ronald McDonald House, muscular dystrophy and that’s this year, and prostate cancer is the third.”

He says fundraisers like the tournament keep the team going while also investing back into the community.

“It helps a lot. It’s a community team. It’s all ran by donations and fundraisers. They do get a little bit from the Town and the RDCK, but it’s limited.”

There will be prizes, a silent auction and a catered dinner at the Creston Golf Club. The event is described as a fun, friendly scramble. Participants may enter as individuals or a team of 4 maximum. Enrollment must be complete by August 12.

You may enroll by calling the Creston Golf Club at 250-428-5515 or 1-888-928-2582.
