Cops for Kids is riding through Creston on September 10th.
The charitable foundation made up of RCMP officers raises money to support kids in the south interior who have suffered a mental, physical or traumatic crisis.
While they ride through town, Casey’s Community House will house the “Jail and Bail” event. Four community members will be placed in jail, bail money will go towards the charity.
Mayor Ron Toyota, who will not be able to attend the event, was kind enough to volunteer some key community members to participate.
“We’ll have Acting Mayor Arnold Deboon, Staff Sergeant Ryan Currie who doesn’t know yet. We have Acting Fire Chief Jared Riel. As well as now, Councilor Tzakis has volunteered. So I will give a personal donation of $100 each.”
Council also approved a $500 grant from the discretionary fund to support the cause.
“Hopefully there’s a huge bail amount to get them back out.” Said Mayor Toyota, “I was also thinking of jailing our radio announcers.”
Cops for Kids will ride to Cranbrook the following day.
