KIJHL Rundown: Sep 30th

The Kimberley Dynamiters lead the Conference with 11 points, trailed by the Creston Valley Thunder Cats and the Spokane Braves with 10 points each. The rough start for the Leafs continue as all 3 points stem from overtime losses.

The Castlegar Rebels were held off the board over the weekend, soundly defeated by the Golden Rockets (0-5) on Friday and Columbia Valley (0-6) on Saturday. The Spokane Braves host the Rebels on Friday at 7:30 and on Saturday they’re back on home ice, hosting the Revelstoke Grizzlies at 7:00.

The Nelson Leafs continue their struggles this season after suffering an overtime loss to the Kelowna Chiefs on Friday (1-2) and a Saturday (3-5) loss to the North Okanagan Knights. The Leafs are in Summerland on Friday for a 7:30 start and host the Grand Forks Border Bruins on Saturday at 7:00.

The Beavervalley Nitehawks faced the Grand Forks Border Bruins Friday, but fell (4-1) after an explosive 2nd period where Bruins’  #19 Jake Hucalak scored a pair. The Spokane Braves battered the Bruins (5-3) on Saturday. Spokane’s #12 Jed Butler and #14 Derek Humphreys tallied 4 points each. Before facing the Leafs on Saturday, it will be a Friday battle of the bears on home turf.. Grizzlies versus the Bruins at 7:00.

The Creston Valley Thunder Cats got their first loss of the regular season on Friday. It was handed to them by the Kamloops Storm (1-7). Creston would bounce back the next day, crushing 100 Mile house (7-3). # 24 Carson Small lead the team in points that game (1G, 3A) and is still second in the league for scoring with 14 points. The Thunder Cats continue their lengthy road trip on Friday for a 7:30 game at the Golden Arena and a 7:00 game on Saturday in Head Coach Nick Redding’s hometown, Spokane.
