Multiple fire departments respond to two nearby fires on monday

Creston Fire Rescue responded to two fires in close proximity on Monday November 4.

At 4:05 PM CFR was dispatched to the area of 24th Street and Sinclair Rd for a wildland-grassfire.

Firefighters from Canyon-Lister Fire Department and Duty Officer from CFR were able to extinguish the fire quickly with no spread to buildings and fields near by.

Little more than two hours later (6:22 PM) at 20th Street and Sinclair Rd, Duty Officers from CFR and CLFD responded and located a open burn unattended with prohibited materials

Firefighters extinguished the fire and turned incident over to RCMP and B.C. Conservation Service for follow up.

CFR said in their Facebook update that they would like to thank WLFD, CLFD, RCMP and B.C. Conservation Service for responding and assisting. CFR also reminds locals that the potential for fires still exists and to follow all Provincial burning regulations in conjunction with B.C. Venting index before lighting any fire. Also please have water, tools and equipment ready if the fire happens to spread.
