Timeline set for Creston’s New Emergency Services Building

The Technical Advisory Building Committee yielded a rough timeline for Creston’s new Emergency Services building.

The committee sat with Kim Johnston of Johnston Davidson Architecture with her team and discussed framing, heating, electrical and landscaping using 30% working drawings.

Johnstone said the drawings will be at 100% and that the project will go to tender in February, 2020. As of right now the pre-qualification intake closes on November 21st. It may be found online at BC Bid, which also means it is available to all four provinces from B.C. to Manitoba.

The budget for Creston’s Emergency Services building that will both house Creston Fire Rescue and B.C. Ambulance will be released in January, 2020.

However, multiple members of the TBAC expressed concern that the sale of the Cook Street property hasn’t been finalized yet.

Creston Chief Administrative officer Mike Moore said the documents are in the hands of the seller’s lawyers, finishing up due diligence.

The subject of Expropriating the land also came up, and that if need be, the Town will consider it as an option later in November if the sale continues to stall.
