RCMP confirm cause of death in Nov. 14 logging accident

Police received 68 calls for assistance from November 12 to November 19, 2019.

On November 14, 2019, police responded to a call of an injured male being transported to the hospital after being involved in a workplace accident. It was then reported that the male had succumbed to his injuries. Investigation revealed that at approximately 1:00 pm, while working on a logging site near Leppard Creek FSR, a 19 year old male from Creston was struck by a loader while walking on the worksite. The victim was provided emergency medical care on scene and transported by workers to an awaiting ambulance on Highway 3. Worksafe BC and the RCMP continue to investigate although nothing criminal is suspected.

November 12, 2019

  • A noise complaint in Wynndel was referred to RDCK Bylaw Services.
  • Report of an abandoned abused dog in Erickson was referred to the BCSPCA.
  • Opened and investigation into a domestic assault. 
  • Report of damage to a radio transmitter station on Mount Midgley. 
  • Report of cows on the road in Erickson.
  • Investigated an on line fraud over Facebook. 

November 13, 2019

  • Report of a possible fraud at a local business.
  • Attended to another noise complaint in Wynndel.

November 14, 2019

  • Assisted with the seizure of cannabis from school property.
  • Report of a theft of product during shipping.
  • Investigated people being unlawfully in a dwelling house after entering a home to discuss religion. 
  • Investigated a workplace fatality involving a 19 year old Creston man. (*See full release below)
  • Called to assist in locating a missing child after school. The child was found with a family member.
  • Report of an impaired driver in Creston. Patrols were unable to locate the suspect.

November 15, 2019

  • Report of an assault outside of a business in Creston. Investigation revealed that no assault had taken place.
  • Report of a shed being broken into with two tents being stolen.
  • Opened an investigation into a third hand report of a familial assault
  • Conducted curfew checks on two offenders on conditions. Both found to be in breach of those conditions by not being at home as directed.

 

November 16, 2019

  • Investigated a vehicle collision involving a car and a cyclist. The cyclist sustained injuries. Investigation on going. 
  • Report of gunshots in Riondel. No dangerous firearm use found.
  • Report of a landlord tenant dispute that resulted in threats.

November 17, 2019

  • Report of threats being made after a domestic assault. Charges are pending.
  • Attended to a male causing a disturbance at a local business. 
  • Report of a different male causing a disturbance at a residence in Creston. 

November 18, 2019

  • A report of a parent abusing children was determined to be unfounded.
  • Report of harassing communications in Yahk.
  • Report of a male breaching the conditions of his probation in Kitchener.

There will be a celebration of life for Kaydon Booth on November 21st at 1:00 pm at the Creston & District Community Complex.

Friends and family wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to the Canyon Lister Fire Department, where booth had previously volunteered
