Activist wants Fed legal action on Lemon Creek spill

A local environmental activist is hoping a change in government in Ottawa will bring justice for the Slocan Valley.

Marilyn Burgoon says she’s awaiting Justin Trudeau’s November 4th cabinet appointments when she’ll be able to write to the new federal Attorney General.

That’s to try to get some action on the legal fight regarding the 2013 Lemon Creek fuel spill.

Burgoon has been granted the go ahead by a judge to file a private citizen’s case against those responsible.

But she says it’s wrong that neither the feds nor the BC Government are prepared to prosecute under the full extent of the law concerning the fisheries act violation.
