Chimes signal new babies at local hospitals

If you are having a baby in the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, the occasion will be marked with a birth chime over the loudspeakers.

The chimes have been installed in labour and delivery at KBRH.

Trish Thomson, Manager of Maternity Pediatrics, says they can remind patients that a visit to the hospital isn’t always associated with bad news.

The sound is similar to that of a wind chime.

And if you hear it twice in a row, that means twins!
