No need for STV referendum:advocate

A local rep with Fair Vote Canada says there should be no need for a referendum on proportional representation.

Ann Remnant in Nelson, who also worked on the Green Party campaign says Justin Trudeau has a mandate to press ahead with electoral reform once he’s sworn in as Prime Minister this week.

Remnant was involved in the campaign for BC to adopt the single transferable vote type of proportional representation which narrowly failed in the 2009 provincial referendum.

It allows voters to rank their preferred candidates and minimizes so called wasted votes.
