Local company bids to build ferries

A local company is one of two short-listed to build new inland ferries in BC.

Two of those ferries are in our area.

Waterbridge Steel INC. of Nakusp joins Harbour Cruises Limited out of Vancouver as the preferred bidders.

The province will make a decision early next year.

Two of the four BC Ferries being replaced are the ones at Harrop-Procter and Glade.

Waterbridge steel built the new M.V. Columbia ferry that runs from Shelter Bay to Galena Bay for a contract price of $26 million.
