The latest unemployment numbers are out from Stats Canada.
The jobless rate for the entire Kootenays was at 6.1% for October which is a big improvement over the previous month when it was at 8%. These are 3-month seasonally adjusted figures. Figures are not available for the West Kootenay specifically.
Stats Can recommends looking at the year -over-year change for comparison purposes.
The Kootenays had an unemployment rate of 6.8% in October 2014.
BC’s jobless rates stands at 6.2% which is unchanged since the previous month and compared to October last year. Canada’s unemployment rate is 6.8%.
