A local Royal Canadian Legion president is hopeful two new federal cabinet ministers will bode well for the military.
Bill Andreaschuk is with the Nelson Legion branch.
He says it’s refreshing to see BC MP Harjit Sajjan given the job of Minister of Defence. He’s a decorated former regiment commander and a former gang unit police officer.
And Andreaschuk adds new Minister of Veteran Affairs Kent Hehr will also have a special understanding for challenges faced by veterans.
He’s been confined to a wheelchair the last 24 years after being hit in a random drive-by shooting.
