Construction of the new intensive care unit at our nearest regional hospital is nearing completion.
The addition to the hospital in Cranbrook, that will house the unit, is almost finished along with the exterior paving and landscaping.
The final finishes on the interior have begun and commissioning of all the ICU systems is in progress.
The major electrical upgrade is also well on the way as the installation is done and final commissioning is under way.
The process of connecting the existing hospital to the new electrical system will continue into next year.
Training of staff is expected to start in the next few months and run through the winter to help ensure a smooth transition of patients into the new unit.
The $20 million ICU Redevelopment project is expected to be completed by spring 2016.
