Turkeys get road sign in Castlegar

A makeshift crosswalk of sorts has been set up in Castlegar for it’s wild turkeys.

The birds have caused a potential danger for motorists in the area, as they often cross Columbia Ave in the southern part of the city.

That’s prompted city council to install official Turkey Crossing signs.

Here’s councilor Sue Heaton Sherstobitoff

She says the birds might be getting wise to the new signs as well.

Several dozen wild turkeys are roosting in a vacant lot near the signs.
