Man falls down Creston canyon

A dramatic rescue near the Canyon bridge just outside of Creston early Sunday morning.

Canyon Lister Fire Department and Creston Fire and Rescue were called in at 1:45 am to assist BC Ambulance in locating a man who had fallen over the bank.

The 20-year old had slid about 200-feet down a 90-degree bank and was stuck on a ledge almost at the bottom of the canyon.

Due to the rocky terrain and safety concerns, firefighters were forced to perform a three and a half hour, high angle rescue using the ladder truck as an extended anchor.

The man was transported to hospital in Creston by ambulance with undetermined injuries.

RCMP are investigating the incident.
