Deer Park group complain about rural director

A community group on the Lower Arrow Lake claims their recently-elected regional director isn’t doing enough.

Deer Park Recreation Society President John Eriksson says as one example they applied for a grant to upgrade a fire truck but got only half and it’s vital they get that money.

Area J Director Rick Smith says he needs paper work.

The society has also complained a deal with BC Hydro to create a public beach at Deer Park still hasn’t happened. Smith says he understands the ongoing frustration but these processes can take a long time.

The group also claims Smith does not return e-mails and the state of their road needs more regular grading. Smith says he’s responded to all e-mails and the road to Deer Park is not in his jurisdiction as it’s a Forestry and MoT issue.
