Sewer rates up and water unchanged

Creston Taxpayers are set to pay more for sewer rates but water remains unchanged.

The 2016 budget calls for a 9% increase for sewer.

A proposed 2% increase for water was axed.

Councillor Kevin Boehmer says the boost in sewer rates is to help offset costs associated with the purchase of their new sewer treatment plant.

Boehmer says the planned increase is modest as it translates to twenty dollars more per year for each household.

The recommendations will go to council for approval.
