A snowmobile club based in the Creston Valley is urging riders to be prepared.
Kokanee Country snowmobile club president Trish Drinkle says sledders heading into the back country face a number of dangers.
She says the basic avalanche necessities are a must.
Drinkle says other scenarios include machine integrity, injury or becoming stranded.
The club is hosting an avalanche and skills training class on Jan. 16 and 17 in Creston.
