A Castlegar man serving a life sentence for killing two people has been denied parole.
Wayne Macmillan is 15 years into his incarceration. That sentence states no parole for 25 years but there is a clause that could allow a jury to reduce that waiting period. However the judge turned down the application.
Court documents show – in part – that there is some doubt about the extent of MacMillan’s rehabilitation and he remains “a very angry man”.
MacMillan – a career criminal and drug addict – killed 90 year old Edward Vertere of Rossland in February 1997.
He also killed Luis Martins in Osoyoos a few months later.
