Nelson’s new police Chief will be Paul Burkart.
Currently the Deputy Chief, Burkart will take the reins at the end of January.
Burkart says like outgoing Chief Wayne Holland he has an inclusive style when it comes to decision-making.
And he’s very supportive of the diversity advisory committee and police foundation initiatives started by his boss.
Burkart is into his 16th year with the NPD and started as a beat officer after his arrival from the Calgary Police Department.
