The search for the missing cheetah near Kootenay Lake has been suspended… but the investigation surrounding the incident is still active.
The BC Conservation Service called off the search yesterday as no further sightings or details have emerged since last week.
Joe Carravetta the Inspector for the Kootenay Region says they have spoken to a person of interest.
Carravetta says they don’t think the cheetah is currently a present, immediate safety risk, if it’s still out there, as according to experts it wouldn’t survive in these harsh weather conditions.
The cheetah was first spotted last Thursday along Highway 3-A near Kootenay Bay by a passing motorist.
