Creston man’s death considered suspicious

RCMP say the death of a man in a home in Creston on May 25 is considered suspicious.

Robert Unger, 72, was reported missing by his family on April 27. Nearly a month later his body was found in a home on Elm Street.

A woman was arrested at that time but has since been released without charges while the investigation continues.

Police say an autopsy confirmed that the remains belonged to Unger.

“Mr. Unger’s death is being categorized as suspicious and his death as a result of foul play,” police said, although they have not released his cause of death.

Police are asking anyone who had contact with Unger in the weeks after his disappearance to contact the major crimes unit information line at 1-877-987-8477.

RCMP say “numerous” officers have been collecting evidence and the BC Coroners Service is also investigating.

Although Unger’s body was discovered three weeks ago, police had not released any information until now despite media inquiries.
