UPDATED: Highway 3 reopens east of Creston after crash

Creston RCMP say they believe alcohol and speed are contributing factors in a crash Sunday morning that closed down Highway 3 east of Creston.

At around 9:30, an SUV allegedly crossed the centre line of the highway into oncoming traffic and struck a pickup.

Occupants in both vehicles were seriously injured and taken to hospital via ambulance.

The highway was closed for several hours while police inspected the scene and those involved were helped.

The highway is now reopened.
