A Creston area snowmobile club is cautioning people that local lakes and rivers are not safe.
President of the Kokanee Country Snowmobile Club, Trish Drinkle says the recent mild weather means the ice is not solid.
Drinkle says winter recreating can be very dangerous and people need to be prepared.
She recommends not heading into the back country alone, knowing the terrain and bringing along basic safety essentials.
Over the past month, search and rescue crews have assisted in several local rescues involving boarders and skiers.
