A local group is going above and beyond to create a warm welcome for a refugee family.
Julie Leffelaar is a member of the Castlegar Refugee Project which is working to sponsor a family from the Middle East and bring them to Castlegar.
They will be hosting an International Cultural Day event at the Castlegar Recreation Centre next month to help raise funds as well as to raise awareness regarding the city’s cultural diversity.
She says the event will help celebrate and educate people about various cultures from all walks of life.
