2015 was a near-record year for building permits in Castlegar.
The 242 permits issued was the largest number from the city since 1992.
Castlegar’s Development Services Director Phil Markin says the total value of permits issued doubled 2014’s numbers.
The increase in value was seen mostly through commercial and industrial permits which combined for almost $8 million.
In 2014 they amounted to just over $750,000.
Markin credits the surge to the fact that people are recognizing Castlegar’s central location in the region and are seeing great investment opportunities.
