Creston celebrates Canada Day with first annual colour run

Those calling Creston home braved the rain yesterday to celebrate Canada Day as a community.

Music played as attendees hid from the showers underneath the Creston and District Community Complex.

But soon, the sun chased away the rain and the first annual colour run began.

Chamber of Commerce president Mel Joy says they were glad to help put on the events.

“It’s such a great time for the community to come out and have the people out to celebrate Canada Day. It’s just a great time for families.”

The rain that drenched the attendees slowed just before the colour run, allowing for the powder to cover the runners in pink, blue, and red.

“So far the rain has been a little bit of a deterrent, but we’re hoping that after a little bit here it dries out,” added Joy.

“We’ll get some people to listen to some music and we have Wild North Brewing here with some beers and, hopefully, it’ll be a good night.”

Joy adds they are hopeful to have the colour run return next year.
