Nelson Fire Drill Winners

Nelson Fire Rescue submitted the following –

In the most recent round of Nelson Fire Rescue Services’ annual Fire Drill Competition, the students of St. Joseph’s School proved to be top-notch.

While pretty much all the schools in Nelson scored high, St.Joseph’s came out on top and took home the trophy and $300 cash, donated by Nelson’s insurance agents at K.I.S., B.C.A.A., R.H.C., and Poulin’s.

Properly exiting a home or building during a fire is not as simple as it sounds.  Plan it ahead of time and practice with your family.  Stay low if there’s smoke, have a meeting place to do “roll-call”, ensure no-one goes back inside, and call 9-1-1 from a cellphone or from a neighbour’s phone.  Also plan what to do if your path is blocked by fire.

Nelson Fire Rescue Services congratulates St. Joseph’s School’s students and thanks Nelson’s home insurance agents for their support.
