High supermarket produce prices could help farmers

Creston area farmers will likely benefit from rising produce costs in supermarkets.

This from the Creston Valley Farmers’ Market Manager.

Jen Comer says it will have a positive impact on how locally grown veggies and fruit are priced.

Comer says the real cost of food is highlighted when we see those rising prices from all over the world, especially when weighed against a falling canadian dollar.

Reports indicate fruit and vegetable prices jumped between 9 and 10 % in 2015.
