Creston residents invited to have their say on park planning

Residents are invited to have their say as the Town of Creston unveils their Parks Master Plan draft at a virtual open house tomorrow, Tuesday, March 25.

The open house aims to provide the community with an opportunity to add to the strategic priorities that define the future direction and actions for the provision of municipal parks.

If you can’t make the event, the session will be pre-recorded, to watch at your convenience.  At the end, there will be a survey to collect public feedback.

For those wanting to hear directly from project consultants, an in-person discussion will be presented at 4pm on Tuesday during the regular council meeting.

“Let’s shape the future of Creston’s parks together!” said the Town of Creston release.

The Parks Master Plan will include a detailed asset inventory, needs analysis, recommendations for future amenities and land acquisition, maintenance recommendations, prioritization and costing of key projects, trend identification, accessibility recommendations, reconciliation opportunities, and consideration of climate change.

The project is guided by several Town documents such as the Official Community Plan (OCP), Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP), Trails Master Plan, and other town initiatives.

Following this stage of public engagement, the draft plan will be refined by staff before being presented to council again in April.
