Meet the candidates in the West Kootenay

West Kootenay voters will be pleased to hear two candidate forums will take place next week in Nelson and Trail for the Columbia-Kootenay-Southern Rockies riding.

The Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce will host an all-candidate meet and greet at the Adventure Hotel banquet room on Wednesday April 23 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Following after the Business After Business event, candidates will take to the stage to discuss hot topics and answer questions.

They will then back up on Thursday April 24 with the Trail and District Chamber of Commerce inviting resident to come and meet the candidates at the Prestige in Rossland, however this will be a mingle event only.

There are six candidates vying for votes, including Rob Morrison (Conservatives), Kallee Lins (NDP) Jim Wiedrick (independent), and Reggie Goldsbury (Liberals) are confirmed.

Also in the running are Steven Maffioli for the Green Party and Laurie Baird of the People’s Party of Canada (PPC).

The candidates have already faced-off in the East Kootenays, laying the groundwork for the campaign.

Advance polls for the electoral district open from April 18-21, with the general voting day set for April 28.
