Several people are facing charges after two big drug busts in Creston.
RCMP were out in full force on Wed to execute their search warrants.
Local officers were backed up by the Emergency Response, Containment and Crisis Negotiation teams in raids of residences on 10th Avenue North and Highway 3 in Erickson.
Police suspect they seized illicit drugs and trafficking paraphernalia, while also arresting two other people wanted on unrelated outstanding warrants.
The coordinated effort drew praise from Creston’s RCMP Detachment Commander.
“I am continually impressed by the tenacious efforts implored by the Members of Creston Detachment as it relates to disrupting the local drug trade,” said Brandon Buliziuk, who added that taking down drug dens remains a priority.
“The public in the Creston Valley have made it abundantly clear that the trafficking of these poisons in our area, is unacceptable.”
Buliziuk also credits the community in its fight against the drug trade.
“We again would like to thank the public for bringing information forward about suspected drug trafficking, and for your support as we work through these investigations.”
The suspects arrested have been released while police wrap up their investigation.
Crown prosecutors will then decide on charges.
