A human caused fire is burning out of control in the Gray Creek area on the east shore of Kootenay Lake.
BC wildfire fighters spotted the 1.1 hectare blaze just south of the Lakeview store on Tuesday, June 10.
Drive BC says there is single lane alternating traffic on Highway 3-A about 15km south of the Kootenay Bay Ferry Terminal because of the fire.
The 3km slowdown is between Birch RD and Maia Lane.
It’s one of eight new wildfires to start up across the province in the last 24 hours.
There is another small fire just south of the Gray Creek blaze.
Fire officials suspect it is also human caused.
There are currently no evacuation alerts or orders at this time.
That fire along with the 2.3-hectare Queen’s Bay fire discovered on May 8 are both considered under control.
The vast majority of the 93 wildfires burning across BC are in the Northeast.
