Derek started in radio as a volunteer with the Canadian Forces Network in West Germany when he was just 14. From there to two different radio colleges in London, Ontario, and North Bay Ontario, to full-time gigs beginning in 1988 in Country radio stations in North Bay, Thunder Bay then Cranbrook.
He’s held positions of Announcer, Copy Writer, Producer, Management and Sales Executive, but his best-loved job is being live on-air. His love of community earned him Cranbrook’s 2014 Citizen Of The Year.
