Smoke from the Sitkum-Duhamel wildfire on Nelson’s North Shore continues to be visible.
It’s been over five weeks since the blaze started and more than two weeks since it was declared 90% contained.
But our South East Fire Centre says smoke from pockets of unburned fuel well within the perimeter can still be seen.
Depending on weather conditions these flare ups can happen but they pose no threat to the communities or structures.
The site continues to be monitored.
The total area of the fire was measured at 780 hectares.
