As the market in drones explodes Grand Forks airport has been certified for specialist pilot training.
Current regulations don’t allow drone use within 500-feet of a building .
But Ernie Ziesman the President and CEO of Skydrones UAV says they have approval to go much further and up to 90-metres high around the airport.
The company is now taking bookings from the commercial and non-commercial sector.
Drone pilots will be trained to identify and react safely to complex industrial environments like power line and bridge inspection.
