Town eyeing PCSS land for Highway realignment

The Town of Creston is looking ahead at Phase II of the Highway 3 realignment project.

The proposed construction sees Canyon Street rerouted to Cook Street, which requires use of a small piece of property at Prince Charles Secondary School.

Town Manager Lou Varela says the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will be negotiating the acquisition of the .77 acres, which includes a minimal section of the existing sports field.

But they’ve reached out to SD 8 to help bolster the request.

Varela says the slightly reduced field would still accommodate an Olympic size soccer field, as well a two U-11 size fields.
