Mount Sentinel School in South Slocan remains closed today.
The school was evacuated and students sent home Friday afternoon, after an unspecified safety threat.
Graduation ceremonies were also postponed and superintendent jeff jones asked students and parents to be extra vigilant at any grad parties over the weekend.
Mount Sentinel is working with the district’s violence threat risk assessment team, trauma response team, the RCMP, Nelson police and the province’s Ministry of Children and Family Development to deal with the incident.
Authorities have released very few details but are assuring the nature of the threat warranted the continued actions taken thus far.
SD-8Â will provide a new update this afternoon at 5:00pm as whether or not the school will reopen tomorrow.
