Review of Food bank use

A recent review of food bank stats show the Creston Valley is on par with the rest of Canada.

The annual Hunger Count is a federal accounting from food banks across the country to determine an approximate number of people who access the service.

The breakdown from the Creston Valley Gleaners Foodbank was 625 adults along with numbers from other categories including children, seniors, women and native.

Spokesperson Yvonne Harland says their numbers comparable to other communities of similar size.

She says the info is valuable.

The hunger count is conducted in March and the compiled results are released in the fall.
