It’s decision day in the Kootenay Lake School District.
After months of meetings the board will finally debate the closure of six schools.
Winlaw, Jewett, Yahk, Trafalgar, Salmo Elementary, and Creston Education Centre could be on the chopping block.
Until now trustees have given no indication of which way they’re leaning.
The meeting is at 5:00 pm at the LV Rogers gym in Nelson.
News that the meeting will not be available through video conferencing is not sitting well with Creston parents.
Wildflower PAC Chair Becky Coons says an email from the district stated the meeting was moved to a venue that can accommodate an anticipated large crowd.
But it doesn’t support video conferencing.
Coons says this is another example of the needs of Creston area schools being ignored.
Wildflower is one of nine programs run out of the Creston Education Centre
