Creston settles with CUPE employees

The Town of Creston and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 2092 have all ratified a new five year contract.

The agreement, retroactive to March 1, 2016, affects 29 employees and provides for a wage increase of 9.65 per cent over the five year period.

That includes increments of 1.65 per cent for March 2016, one per cent for March and September 2017, March and September 2018, March and September 2019, and two per cent in March 2020.

Mayor Ron Toyota says bargaining took place in fits and starts over the last eight months or so.

The agreement excludes seven management staff and the fire department.
