Southeast Fire Centre busier than last year

The Southeast Fire Centre has been kept busy this year with a number of wildfires throughout its jurisdiction.

But it is still not as busy as it was this time in 2015.

So far this year 168 wildfires have started in our region with 42 of those caused by humans.

At this point of the summer in 2015 380 fires had started with 60 of those being outed as human-caused.

It has been much busier than last year.

By this time in 2016 only 56 fires had been reported.

The long term forecast calls for continuing hot, dry weather and extreme drying conditions in the forest.
