Creston’s Citizen Budget is ready.
The town launched the budget simulator exercise on Wednesday.
It allows residents to use their property assessment to see how much they currently pay for a variety of town services – users are then able to prioritise service levels in each area.
Mayor Ron Toyota says it allows residents to provide input.
The information gathered in the survey will be put towards the 2018 budget process.
Toyota says this tool opens up communication between council and residents.
The Town of Smithers and the City of Williams Lake have used a similar program during their budget process.
The town is using the tool as a trial this year – they’ll carry it into next year if it’s successful.
