Town staff is looking at ways to improve residential roads

The Town of Creston is considering different funding methods to improve residential roads.

Staff are looking at ways to fix residential streets without disrupting the road restoration program in place for the main routes in town.

Mayor Ron Toyota says they are considering a local area service tax.

The tax, available under the community charter, would mean residents who are affected by the road would contribute more to that improvement.

Toyota says staff will make a list of priority areas that need improvements.

He adds residents are welcome to come forward with specific road complaints – Cedar and Hurl are two streets that are being looked at during the towns planning process.

The plan is still in very early stages and will be considered during the budget process.
