Creston’s new Community Park will have something for everybody.
That according to West Creston Regional Director Larry Binks.
The Regional District of Central Kootenay is adding a large outdoor recreation area to the Creston Rec Centre. The upgrade will include a skate park, picnic space, horseshoe pits, beach volleyball courts, and a revitalised playground. The plan also shows upgrades to lighting, landscaping, and parking areas.
Binks says the new park will be inclusive to all ages.
The Regional District received $3.1 million from the Federal Government’s Gas Tax Fund, administered by the Union of BC Municipalities as well as $150,000 from the Columbia Basin Trust through their Recreational Infrastructure Program. Binks says the $3.25 million project has been fully funded.
He adds the park will make help to make Creston a tourist destination.
Binks says he hopes to see construction begin in April and finish by August 2019.
