Nelson City Council has signed off on a deal that should see a new Cottonwood Market built by next year.
The city will pay over $12,000 for finished architectural plans.
The existing 40 year old structures will be demolished this year.
The eco society, which is the lead on the fund-raising, will be expected to have new structures up next market season.
Councillor Michael Dailly says the overall concept plan is good for the overall vision of the Railtown area.
The existing market structures are falling apart and are deemed a liability.
