Winter driving prompts travel advisory

Drive BC has issued a travel advisory for the 210 kilometre stretch of Highway 3 between Yahk and the Alberta border.

A combination of heavy traffic volume, snow flurries and a drop in temperature prompted the advisory to be put in effect last night.

Only travel on Highway 3 if absolutely necessary, expect icy and slippery sections and use caution.

Motorists are asked to leave adequate room between vehicles, drive to road conditions and watch for changes.

Creston Valley RCMP report there were several motor vehicle incidents yesterday near Yahk.

One saw Highway 3 blocked by RCMP for several hours after a driver went into the ditch, and down a 50 foot embankment.

BC Ambulance were on also scene responding to undetermined injuries.
